Torque on magnetic dipole:

Tends to align magnetic dipoles with field. Accounts for paramagnetism. Exact for extended dipole in uniform field, or for point dipole in non-uniform field. Similar to electric analogue, di_N, \({\bf N} = {\bf p} \times {\bf E}\).
